Planning Ahead

You forgot your sunglasses, but brought an oversized bag of gear? Don't be that person. Let's plan ahead.

Here's a list detailing how to be prepared and what to bring with you.

What’s Included with Your Trip

Whether you are fishing from the boat or stepping out for a wade trip, Drifter Guides is committed to providing a personalized and memorable day on the water. Boat trips include all necessary fishing equipment, while wade fishing anglers should plan to bring the gear they know and trust.

At Drifter Guides, every trip is built around providing a comfortable, customized, and memorable experience on the water. Your trip includes:

  • Quality light-tackle spinning rod and reel setups for boat trips

  • Ice and ice chests for food, beverages, and kept fish

  • Live bait or artificial lures, depending on the season and conditions

  • Instruction on technique, presentation, and approach

  • A chance to create lasting memories on the Texas coast

What to Bring

To make the most of your day on the water, we recommend bringing the following. Please keep in mind that storage space on the boat is limited.

Fishing License

A valid Texas fishing license with a saltwater endorsement is required. One-day and annual licenses can be purchased at many retail stores in Corpus Christi, including Academy Sports + Outdoors. You can also visit the Texas Parks and Wildlife website to find a location near you.

Food and Drinks

Please bring any food, water, or drinks you would like for the day. Alcohol is permitted in moderation. For safety reasons, underage drinking and glass bottles are not allowed.

Cooler for Your Catch

If you plan to keep fish, please bring a cooler to transport your catch home after the trip.

Children’s Life Jackets

Children under the age of 13 are required to wear a life jacket at all times while aboard the boat. Please bring a life jacket your child will be comfortable wearing throughout the day.

  • Sunscreen

  • Hat or cap with a dark underbrim

  • Polarized sunglasses, preferably amber or copper lenses
